Nakama Artist launches a new Artist Development arm to the organisation, designed to support artists in developing their creative practice, building industry knowledge, and growing sustainable music careers. Kicking off this incredible new phase are 7 new artists who have been putting in the hours across the years quietly behind the scenes at NKA Studio: Akilaqui, T Breezy, Reggie Brown, T1LL0W, Yellowbelly Crew, Kobi Dunks and G. Rilla!

The real-world impact of this focused development is already being felt on a wider scale. From development programs turning emerging artists into working artists, and more importantly, workshop attendees into employed workshop facilitators and studio mentors.

Led by Miah Wright, a proud Gomeroi and Dunghutti woman with over two decades of experience across festival production, media and radio, artist management, cultural programming, and arts development, this program is firmly grounded in deep industry knowledge and genuine community ties. Throughout her career, Miah has supported both emerging and established artists— especially First Nations talent — by fostering avenues for professional growth, enhancing industry recognition, enabling festival appearances, and encouraging impactful creative collaborations. Their leadership ensures the program remains committed to nurturing talent and empowering artists to reach new heights.
